Gala

Corsham "A" Fight Hard to Achieve 2nd Place

On Saturday the Corsham A Team made the long journey to a gala hosted by Salisbury – all the way to the Springfield Centre! Due to the nature of the Winter League this had been organised by the County (we will be hosting at Corsham next time) and credit must go to Salisbury for making the long journey and then running a very smooth operation in managing the gala.

C Team Calne Gala Report - Loud and Proud!

Last night the C Team competed in the final Gala of the Summer League. This team has had fantastic support all season in terms of cheering each other and parents/helpers but last night we were bolstered by frineds/sisters/coaches/etc. so the word is spreading what this team is about. And our reputation for being the noisiest, most cheering-est team is beyond dispute!

CORSHAM B RETAIN LEAGUE POSITION

It was a rejuvenated and highly motivated B team which returned to the Wilts ASA summer league last night, against usual opponents Wroughton (league leaders), Swindon Dolphins and Melksham. Whilst the chances of the team losing its place in Division 4 were somewhat remote, there was a point of honour to defend having been beaten by 9 points into 4th place by Melksham at the last gala. However, there was an air of determination about the team and with home advantage, the omens were good for a return to form.

A Team Gala - Determination at Milton Road

The final Gala of the Summer League for the Corsham A Team was held at Milton Road, Swindon. This is a tough division, including Tigersharks A, Chippenham and Swindon Dolphins B with some of the other clubs putting out swimmers who compete at National level. Corsham A have battled through the season to hold on to 3rd place in the Division, with Dolphins a mere 5 points behind and a real threat. So the name of the game on Saturday was teamwork and focus. I am pleased to say that they delivered.

Corsham C Battle to the End!

It was back to business for Corsham’s C team, which travelled to Bradford on Avon to face the home team, Devizes and Calne Alpha in the 3rd round of this years Wilts ASA Moonraker summer league. This was the first time I have seen the team in action and a mighty impressive outfit they are. When they were not swimming, they were cheering on their fellow swimmers, an infectious habit which bred so many smiles, no matter what the result. And if extra points were to be awarded for the noisiest team, Corsham would have won hands down!

C Team Gala Report - Summer League 2nd Round July 10th

The Happy Few reassembled on the night of Saturday July 10th for the second round of the Wiltshire Summer League at the Springfield. This was a different team in terms of swimmers (quite a few changes due to some swimmers now being in the B Team or unavailable which necessitated some late night phone calls on the Friday - thanks Julia) but the same team in terms of spirit and support for one another. The referee started the event by instructing everyone to be hushed at the start of each race but to cheer loudly thereafter - the crowd needed no second bidding. Corsham “B”attle at Trowbridge

The third round of this year’s Summer league was held at Trowbridge, against the “usual suspects” namely hosts Melksham, Swindon Dolphins and league leaders Wroughton. And yes, it really was a battle this time, with the team never quite reaching the heights it had in the first two rounds. Wins were hard to come by, although there were some notable swims and lots of effort from newcomers Hannah Falipe, Safiya Mahmood and James McGettigan.... <more>

Marlborough Friendly Gala - Match Report

On Saturday 19th June a team from the Club travelled to Marlborough to compete in the second of the recent series of Friendly Galas. This had been organised following the Corsham Friendly in April which our fellow clubs enjoyed so much that they requested further events, giving many swimmers new opportunities to swim competitively for the Club.

Awesome A Team

Our photos show a triumphant winning Corsham swim team and the first success for Club Captains Freddie Sherratt and Amy McRae receiving the team’s trophy from Paul Robbins (Wilts ASA  President). Click "read more" for the full story and more photos.

CORSHAM “B” – A “Little” Piece Goes a Long Way!

The second round of this year’s Wilts ASA Winter league saw Corsham B hosting a home gala at the Springfield Leisure Centre. Opponents on the night were Malmesbury, Tigersharks B and Trowbridge C, who provided some tough and sometimes interesting competition. (click on 'read more' below)
