Happy New Year for 2012!
As we look forward to the imminent arrival of 2012, it is worth casting our eyes back over the events of 2011, the achievements and the challenges.
Welcome Back!
I hope that everyone had a fun and relaxing Summer (no chance of being dehydrated if you stayed in the UK!).
The training programme is now back in full swing as the August Bank Holiday weekend has passed and it is good to see the swimmers working hard, and some new members coming along to the Club. There is much to work for, with full details of upcoming events on the Event Schedule page.
- The A & C Teams swim the the next round of the Wiltshire Moonraker Summer League on September 10th. Please check the Team Lists on the NoticeBoard and confirm your participation as soon as possible.
- The Club Championships will take place during October, the main dates being the 8th and 16th with Distance Events to be scheduled. Entry forms will be posted very soon so watch this space! The Presentation Night for the trophies and other awards is on November 18th.
- The Wiltshire Moonraker Winter League starts on November 26th. Results from the Championships will obviously play a major part in the Team selection.
Enjoy what is left of the Summer (typical - it is a nice day today now that the schools are back) and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Pool.
Club Records Updated
There were a handful of Club Records broken during the County Championships this year, so I've added an update of the spreadsheet, which is available from the members area Documents: Times and Results. The "Key" tab in the spreadsheet provides useful information on how to use the other tabs.
Reminder - Last chance to pay your membership fees
Any swimmer who has not renewed will not be able to swim after March 21st as they will no longer be insured in the water. Please forward any outstanding membership fees to Ruth Ross asap. Thank you
Club Records Updated
Over the last few weeks Dave Jones and myself have updated the club records. The new spreadsheet is a comprehensive list of all club records and age best times swum by Corsham swimmers, incorporating the new format for the club championships as well as long course and short course records. The spreadsheet is available from the members area Documents: Times and Results. The "Key" tab in the spreadsheet provides useful information on how to use the other tabs.
Corsham Community Hub - Have Your Say!
There is a major proposal to redevelop the site of the existing Community Centre and create a Community Hub within Corsham. This would bring together the leisure centre, library, youth groups currently in the Mansion House and other organisations from Corsham. The current proposal keeps the Springfield Centre and most importantly the Pool as far as this Club is concerned, but this is subject to public consultation.
Security Notice. Spam blocking
I've been getting lots of requests for userids from unknown sources. These tend to be autogenerated attack attempts. I've now fitted a CAPTCHA utility to the request for userid and for password resets. It's very simple and requires you to copy a few jumbled letters.
Melissa receives County call up
Congratulations to Melissa Birkett, who has been selected to represent Wiltshire in the National Inter County Team Championships. Mel will be competing in
Being in the Team
A new page has been created in the Club Members Area, entitled "Being in the Team". This is a guide to what is expected of swimmers who are selected to swim for the Club, how the competitions work, the Wiltshire Leagues, equipment needed, etc.
This is based on conversation and questions from many Club members. If anyone would like to ask questions or make comments then I will update the page accordingly as this is intended to make swimming for the Club as straightforward as possible, so that swimmers can really concentrate on their performances and winning for the Team.
