Springfield Triathlon Stall - "Come And Get It!!"
On Sunday morning last at 7:00am (yes, really that early and it did feel like it after the Gala the previous night) a crack team of volunteers set up the refreshments stall on the Springfield ready for the annual Triathlon. This has been covered in the Club News and it is an event that the Club attends every year as the stall raises vital funds for the swimmers. Click "read more" for the full story and photos.
Marlborough Friendly Gala - Match Report
On Saturday 19th June a team from the Club travelled to Marlborough to compete in the second of the recent series of Friendly Galas. This had been organised following the Corsham Friendly in April which our fellow clubs enjoyed so much that they requested further events, giving many swimmers new opportunities to swim competitively for the Club.
Another Master-ful display
Round 2 of the Wiltshire County Masters took place at the Link Centre on 5th June and despite their numbers being down on the last round, Corsham Masters fought hard and had fun. 4 events on the night - 100 back, 50 fly, 25 free and 100 breast. Only four of us there, so person by person....
Corsham ASC 50m Sprints Gala
The Club Sprints will take place on the 27th June & 11th July. For those who don't know, this is an club event where all strokes are swum over 50m (except u/10 fly which is 25m). Positions are given for each age group on a Heat Declared basis, i.e. all age groups are mixed up and heats seeded according to entry time. Then the positions in each age group are determined by the times swum at the gala. More info and an entry form are attached.
Corsham "B"attle to Third Place
A very grumpy team manager turned up at the Link Centre, having already made five changes, during the day, to an ever dwindling team list. His humour did not improve when one swimmer failed to turn up, meaning that the under 12 boys would miss out on any points for their relay events. This is such a shame for those that do swim but there was little anyone could do about it. So it was left to a very depleted team to carry the honours on the night and without exception, they all swam magnificently. And boy did it make a difference to see us win the first race of the evening!
C Team Gala - "We Few, We Happy Few"
The abiding memory of the C Team gala at Devizes last night was that of everybody in the team, top to bottom, showing great determination, team spirit, enthusiasm and hard work. Though depleted in numbers (yes we had but one Open Girl swimmer, two U16 Girls, one U14 boy) this was a team that bonded quickly and supported each other throughout, especially those making their first appearance for the Club taking the opportunity to show what they can achieve. Forthcoming Events
Please see the the attached document for details on the new Land Training and also Saturday Junior Squad Swimming sessions.
As detailed in the recent Newsletter and Chairman's Mid-Year Report, the Club runs a Refreshment Tent at the Springfield Triathlon. Please look at the attached notice as we really need as many volunteers as possible to help at this great fund raiser for the Club.
Corsham B's Encouraging Start to Summer Season
It seems such a short time since victory in the final round of the winter league and here we were at the start of another summer league campaign. Having gained promotion to Division 4 last year, Corsham B now face Dolphins C, Melksham and Wroughton, a tough prospect if we are to retain that spot in the league. Unfortunately, Melksham were unable to field a team, so we faced only two teams at Milton Road.
Melissa's Millfield Weekend
Well done to Mel on her long weekends swimming down in Millfield for the SW Regional championships. The only youth representative from Corsham (even though she had her Team Bath hat on), she swam in 5 events, placed well in all and made the finals of the 50 fly and 100 back, finishing 7th and 6th respectively. A superb achievement and hopefully an inspiration to our younger swimmers.
Summer Gala Team Lists
This Saturday marks the first Galas of the Summer League with the A and B teams in action, and all 3 teams competing on May 15th. The full team lists (including the C Team) have just been posted on the Team List page under the Club Members Only section.
C Team - please check the dates and confirm to Julia Airlie (details at bottom of team sheet).
