Meeting to Discuss the Future of Springfield Leisure Centre - Sept 9th at the Town Hall

As part of a review of all Wiltshire’s Leisure Services, Wiltshire Council is considering the future of your leisure centre at Springfield.

Major investment & improvements have created a Springfield Centre that is –

‘Fit for the Future’

Our Gym facilities are second to none, the Pool is the major centre for Galas, Open Meets, the National  Swimathon and Triathlons.

The Centre is popular with individuals and hosts Clubs, Dance School, Squash Leagues, Children’s gymnastics etc, and is the preferred Centre for many users from Chippenham and outlying villages.

The Centre is a key facility not only in terms of leisure but is also a core facility to help form a future local community “hub” within the ‘Big Society’.

Is this important to you?

It’s your centre, and this is your first real opportunity to find out more and to have your say in the consultation process now taking place

There is a PUBLIC MEETING at Corsham Town Hall on 9th September at 7pm

Please come along to find out more and have your say

Thank you

Corsham C Battle to the End!

It was back to business for Corsham’s C team, which travelled to Bradford on Avon to face the home team, Devizes and Calne Alpha in the 3rd round of this years Wilts ASA Moonraker summer league. This was the first time I have seen the team in action and a mighty impressive outfit they are. When they were not swimming, they were cheering on their fellow swimmers, an infectious habit which bred so many smiles, no matter what the result. And if extra points were to be awarded for the noisiest team, Corsham would have won hands down!

C Team Gala Report - Summer League 2nd Round July 10th

The Happy Few reassembled on the night of Saturday July 10th for the second round of the Wiltshire Summer League at the Springfield. This was a different team in terms of swimmers (quite a few changes due to some swimmers now being in the B Team or unavailable which necessitated some late night phone calls on the Friday - thanks Julia) but the same team in terms of spirit and support for one another. The referee started the event by instructing everyone to be hushed at the start of each race but to cheer loudly thereafter - the crowd needed no second bidding. Springfield Triathlon Stall - "Come And Get It!!"

On Sunday morning last at 7:00am (yes, really that early and it did feel like it after the Gala the previous night) a crack team of volunteers set up the refreshments stall on the Springfield ready for the annual Triathlon. This has been covered in the Club News and it is an event that the Club attends every year as the stall raises vital funds for the swimmers. Click "read more" for the full story and photos.

Marlborough Friendly Gala - Match Report

On Saturday 19th June a team from the Club travelled to Marlborough to compete in the second of the recent series of Friendly Galas. This had been organised following the Corsham Friendly in April which our fellow clubs enjoyed so much that they requested further events, giving many swimmers new opportunities to swim competitively for the Club.

Being in the Team

A new page has been created in the Club Members Area, entitled "Being in the Team". This is a guide to what is expected of swimmers who are selected to swim for the Club, how the competitions work, the Wiltshire Leagues, equipment needed, etc.

This is based on conversation and questions from many Club members. If anyone  would like to ask questions or make comments then I will update the page accordingly as this is intended to make swimming for the Club as straightforward as possible, so that swimmers can really concentrate on their performances and winning for the Team.

C Team Gala - "We Few, We Happy Few"

The abiding memory of the C Team gala at Devizes last night was that of everybody in the team, top to bottom, showing great determination, team spirit, enthusiasm and hard work. Though depleted in numbers (yes we had but one Open Girl swimmer, two U16 Girls, one U14 boy) this was a team that bonded quickly and supported each other throughout, especially those making their first appearance for the Club taking the opportunity to show what they can achieve. Summer Gala Team Lists

This Saturday marks the first Galas of the Summer League with the A and B teams in action, and all 3 teams competing on May 15th. The full team lists (including the C Team) have just been posted on the Team List page under the Club Members Only section.

C Team - please check the dates and confirm to Julia Airlie (details at bottom of team sheet).
