Corsham Centre Stage in Costume Drama!

Corsham B Round 1 Winter League. It’s always a relief not to have any late drop outs on gala day, particularly with all of the viruses going the rounds at present. And even the horrendous weather was not a deterrent to those hardy souls who make up Corsham’s B team. Having splashed up the motorway to the Link centre in Swindon, the team was ready to pick up the challenge once again, after a stunning series of performances in the Summer league. Opponents on the evening were the “A” teams from Swindon, Westbury and Wootton Bassett, plus Dolphins C and Trowbridge C. Not an easy task then, but that’s what the swimmers train for.

Video Analysis at Training Sessions

To assist in developing stroke technique the swimming coaches at Corsham ASC would like to take videos of swimmers, both above and under the water. The video recording will only be used during training sessions and once it has served its purpose it will be destroyed.

Stephanie Millward Visit

During the training session this evening Senior Squad were treated to a visit by Stephanie Millward 'hot off the plane' from Reykjavik where she had been taking part in the 2009 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming European Championships. Stephanie showed her medals, 5 Gold, for 100 Fly, 100 Back and 400 FC individual events, and 100 Fly in the 4X100 Medley relay and 100 FC in the 4X100 Freestyle relay, she also had one Silver for the 100 FC. Thank you Stephanie what a lovely gesture for the club and what a wonderful role model for the swimmers.

Wiltshire Masters - Final Round 2009

The final round of the Wiltshire Masters for 2009 saw the usual suspects (Nikki, Andy and Stuart) make the long trip to Salisbury for 5 events (well, the lazy amoung us only did 3!!!)

Good results made the journey worthwhile.
Nikki claimed gold and county records in her 3 events.
Andy amassed 4 golds and a bronze - narrowly missing out on county records in 3 events.
Stuart gained 1 gold and 4 silvers - but more importantly was not disqualified in any of his races.

"And On The Night, It All Came Right!"

(By Alan Hall, Club Sec). Saturday 12th September was a day of three “firsts”. This was the first time to the writer’s knowledge that the B team had travelled to Durrington. Second “first” was that there was not a single ‘phone call announcing the non attendance of a swimmer and the final “first” was the fact that going into the last round, Corsham B was placed 1st in Division 5 of the Moonraker league.

Summer League Final round - One up, One down

Well, in the absence of anything else, I'll file a little report.
Our A and B teams were in action last Saturday in the final round of the 2009 Summer League, both with a lot to swim for. The B team were chasing promotion whilst the A team were in a relegation battle.

ASA South West Young Volunteer Programme 2009/10

Here's a special note for all Club swimmers aged between 14 & 19. A fantastic opportunity is available to you to join the 2009/10 Young Volunteers Programme, sponsored by the ASA South West Region. Some of you are already helping the Club poolside. This programme will help you develop other skills, such as officiating, team & event management, and involvement with other swimming disciplines eg water polo. The programme is fully structured and will be mentored by one of the Club's coaching staff.

Summer League Round 3

CORSHAM B GAIN CONTROL (By Alan Hall). Another excellent gala at home saw Corsham B finally “win” a Summer league gala, albeit in a tie with Durrington. An improving Marlborough B took third spot, whilst league leaders Swindon had to be content with 4th on the night. It was a while before Corsham got into their stride and the lead was not realised until after 30 races. From that point onwards, however, the team stepped up a gear and whilst they eventually tied, they did recover all of the ground lost to Swindon in the earlier rounds.
