By Alan McRae (Head Coach). Round 3 of the Winter League again produced some excellent swims from our swimmers. The competition was hard with strong teams from league leaders Trowbridge A and Bradford on Avon. Our younger age group again worked hard in all events although the boys are finding the opposition very tough, the girls however produced some great results winning the medley relay and gaining two 2nds and a 3rd place so well done to Libby, Lucy, Hannah and Ebony.
Our U15 boys and girls all swam very well and gained 2nd and 3rd places in all events with only 4 swimmers each they all had to work very hard throughout the evening and again did the club proud.
The U17 boys and girls are with no doubt in the hardest age group with the opposition having really strong teams but again we worked really hard, Melissa again produced some great swims and showed why she is so close to national qualifying times (let’s hope she manages to qualify in the coming weeks) in the boys James again swam some really competitive breast stroke both in his age group and the open events.
Our open swimmers again produced some good swims our 3 open boys of Mike, Jack and Richard were well supported by our U17 boys Peter, Alex, James, Laurence, Oliver and Freddie. The open girls of Nikki, Ellen, Alice, and Amy had some great swims and were well supported by Melissa.
The pick of the Squadron events saw Sam, Jonathon, Peter and Mike winning the Fly event by 1 tenth/sec from Trowbridge A with an awesome last length from Mike Edmundson. (Our poolside timekeeper missed his time but made the comment on his sheet “FAST” I had 11.7 so yes)
The gala finished with an exciting freestyle cannon and our 2nd place finish beating Bradford by 2 tenths/sec into 3rd place gave us the 1 point needed to finish 2nd on the night behind Trowbridge,
So well done, Ebony, Megan, Melissa, Nikki, Sam, Matt, Alex and Jack.
We always look to pick a boy and girl swimmer of the gala and as always it proves to be a very difficult decision with all swimmers putting in so much effort. My comments above have listed a number of swimmers who again produced some great swims, however my choice for the gala are
2 boys and girls who individually performed extremely well on the night for the boys Sam Ross and James Marygold , the girls Ebony Trudgeon and Megan Trollope.

Result;
Trowbridge A 222pts
Corsham A 165
Bradford on Avon 164
Wooton Bassett 113
Warminster 78
Wroughton 72
