CORSHAM “B” – A “Little” Piece Goes a Long Way!

The second round of this year’s Wilts ASA Winter league saw Corsham B hosting a home gala at the Springfield Leisure Centre. Opponents on the night were Malmesbury, Tigersharks B and Trowbridge C, who provided some tough and sometimes interesting competition. (click on 'read more' below)

On paper, Corsham B seemed likely to gain 2nd place overall on the night, a position which they soon realised and held on to until the end. Unfortunately, Tigersharks remain just that bit too strong for Corsham’s B team but that said, there were some memorable victories, mainly from our Open swimmers. There was also a very satisfying win in the boys under 15 backstroke, with Corsham just gaining victory by one hundredth of a second! It doesn’t get much closer than that.
A slightly fuller squad this time gave the opportunity to try out some new swimmers, who did not disappoint. So thanks and well done to Ella Golledge and Nesta Unwin for their contributions and for bolstering the under 13 girls. It was nice to welcome back the two Emma’s, Boyd & Connor, who did so well to uphold the almost 100% winning run for the Open girls. Not sure if it was his first competitive gala for the Club, but Edward Bray did really well, as did fellow under 13 swimmer Richard Meiklereid, with a sub 18 seconds for his freestyle relay leg.
I am only going to mention one swimmer from each group, so special thanks the under thirteen’s Felicity Birkett and Oliver Johnson, under fifteen’s Bobbi Lang and Joe Ross, under seventeen’s Hannah Pinsent and Tom Little and for the Open swimmers Bridie Meiklereid and Stuart Gibbs. All of you were exceptional on the night.
Finally, well done to the massive team of Corsham helpers. It was so nice to see so many of you poolside supporting the team. It makes an immense difference when everyone knows what role the job they have to play and that everything is in place. Thanks to you all.
