Summer League Final round - One up, One down

By Dave Jones - Posted on 16 September 2009

Well, in the absence of anything else, I'll file a little report.
Our A and B teams were in action last Saturday in the final round of the 2009 Summer League, both with a lot to swim for. The B team were chasing promotion whilst the A team were in a relegation battle.
For the B team it turned out to be a very good campaign as they easily won the gala on the night and hence clinched promotion. I haven't seen the results and I wasn't there, so I can't write much about individuals, but I did hear that the Sherratt boys were in superb form, and Huw Parks won his races. As always though, the whole team must be congratulated, and if anyone wants to respond to this report with more swimmer details, feel free.
Not such good news for the A team. As feared Swindon Dolphins were able to use their huge resources to pull out a few star performers, and it was clear from the first few events that it was going to be a struggle. Collectively the Open Girls of Sarah and Alice Wilson, Amy McRae and Nikki Harris swept all before them in the 2 relays with Sarah adding an individual win in the 100 back. Our only other wins came from Melissa Birkett who was supreme in the u/16 100 fly and 100 back. There were many other good performances which perhaps were made to look less good due to the quality of the opposition. So we dust ourselves down, and get ready for 2010.
