Salisbury Open - April 19th
A small, but enthusiastic team of Corsham swimmers attending the recent Open meet in Salisbury. The relaxed atmosphere and excellent pool coupled with a good medal haul and numerous PBs made for an enjoyable day for all. For the girls, Elizabeth Harris struck Silver three times in the 50m Backstroke, 100m IM & 50m Free, before finally grabbing a well deserved Gold in a thrilling 50m Fly. Charlotte Mcgettigan won Silver in the 100m Fly, Lauren Jones took a Silver in the 100m Breaststroke and a Bronze in the 100 IM, and not to be outdone Stephanie MacPherson capped a satisfying meet, by taking a Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke. For the boys Jonathan Brend took Silver in the 50m Fly and sliced 7 seconds off his PB to take Gold in the 100m Fly, and Alex Jones won a medal of each colour, with Gold in the 100m Free, Silver in the 50m Backstroke and Bronze in the 100m Fly. Finally a special mention must go to Matthew Harris who was agonisingly close to a medal, finishing fourth 3 times and fifth once. However he partially made up for this by sneaking in a football match between events and helped his team to an impressive 9-0 victory!!
