Corsham Junior Gala, 25 April 2009

It was a great pleasure to welcome the reconstituted Calne Alfa 4 swimming club along with Malmesbury swimming club to take part in the Corsham junior gala on saturday. It was also a good oportunity to give as many young swimmers as possible the chance to take part in a gala early in their swimming careers as Corsham fielded two teams. The volume of cheering emanating from all the teams and the packed viewing gallery, made it obvious that they were all enjoying themselves but there was no doubt that the loudest cheer of the evening came from Calne when they won their first race, and it proved not to be their only win either. All the Corsham swimmers put in good performances so the coaches will have plenty of 'food for thought' as they pick the teams for the Summer league galas that start next month. Particular highlights were when the B team managed to beat their A team compatriots.

It was also pleasing to see a number of new faces helping on poolside and from the feed back from those involved they enjoyed it almost as much as the swimmers. This is a good sign as we will need all the help we can get to support the 3 teams in the Summer league. For the record the result was; Corsham A 164, Malmsbury 146, Corsham B 102 and Calne 81. Well done all who took part.
