2010 Wiltshire Championships - Part 2

Corsham swimmers were in action on Sunday in the second weekend of the Wiltshire county championships, with Peter Ammel, Jonathan Brend & Freddie Sherratt swimming the 800m Freestyle in the 50m pool at Bath University. With all of them competiting in the same heat it set up a mini battle between themselves. Peter ended up being the first swimmer home, with Jonathan (who knocked well over half minute off his PB) narrowly beating Freddie.

Masters Wilts County - Massive Medal Haul

The largest Masters team (in recent times) to compete at the Wiltshire County Masters returned home from Trowbridge with 19 medals (7 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze).

Making their debuts in Masters events were Heather Knight (2S,2B), Michael Edmundson (1G, 2S), Sean Browne (1B) and Ben Bridgeman (1S,2B) - all rising to the challenge and enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere.

Not to be outdone, the 'experienced' swimmers carried on their rich vein of form.

2010 Wiltshire Championships

Corsham swimmers went into action last weekend in the first set of events of the 2010 Wiltshire Championships. First up was Megan Trollope, Corsham’s sole female entry in the girl’s 800m Freestyle at Bath University. Despite the event being held in a long course pool Megan swam excellently to knock a large chunk off her PB and finish fifth in her age group.

Stephanie's Medals

It is hoped that most Club members will know that Stephanie Millward, 2008 Beijing paralympian, started her swimming career at Corsham ASC. Since returning from Beijing, she has presented prizes at the 2008 Club Presentation evening and been a regular visitor to Club as a guest coach. Judging by the response from our swimmers, Stephanie has been a real inspiration and we are delighted that she has continued to come back and see us, as her training schedule permits.

They can run as well as swim!

There was a good turn out from Corsham ASC members for the Schools’ Biathlon Qualifier at Bath Uni on 24 Jan. There was personal glory for Oliver and Oscar Warren-Fisher (representing King Edwards) who both finished in the top 6 for their age groups and a team gold for Victoria Lewis, Megan Trollope and Amelia Lias (representing The Corsham School) in the Yr 9 Girls competition. Well done to all the above and: Emma Mortimer, Peter Ammel, Duncan Wilson, Calum Pheby, Hannah Lias, Bobbi Lang, Ella Golledge, Madeleine Moore and Nesta Unwin.

CORSHAM “B” – A “Little” Piece Goes a Long Way!

Corsham Centre Stage in Costume Drama!

Corsham B Round 1 Winter League. It’s always a relief not to have any late drop outs on gala day, particularly with all of the viruses going the rounds at present. And even the horrendous weather was not a deterrent to those hardy souls who make up Corsham’s B team. Having splashed up the motorway to the Link centre in Swindon, the team was ready to pick up the challenge once again, after a stunning series of performances in the Summer league. Opponents on the evening were the “A” teams from Swindon, Westbury and Wootton Bassett, plus Dolphins C and Trowbridge C. Not an easy task then, but that’s what the swimmers train for.
